SpaceX successfully launched NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope into space aboard a Falcon Heavy rocket on August 30.

After delivering the telescope, the rocket’s two reusable side boosters returned to Earth and landed safely at separate landing zones in Florida.

One of the boosters completed its first mission, while the other successfully made its third flight.

The Roman telescope is now traveling toward a stable point nearly one million miles from Earth, where it will study dark energy, dark matter and distant exoplanets, Space.com has reported.

NASA expects Roman to begin its scientific observations after commissioning, with its first images of the universe expected in early 2027.
