A landslide struck one of the main starting points for climbers on Japan’s Mount Fuji after heavy rain hit central parts of the country.

Three vehicles were buried by debris, but no injuries or deaths were reported from the landslide.

Heavy rainfall in Shizuoka Prefecture also forced the closure of the Fuji Subaru Line, a major access road to the mountain.

Elsewhere, two climbers were found unconscious on Mount Fuji, while another landslide in the town of Kawanehon killed a worker, Reuters has reported.

The severe weather also caused flooding and injuries in nearby prefectures, with heavy rain expected to continue across parts of Japan.
