College baseball player Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV, 22, was fatally shot by police in Pennsylvania after mistakenly going to the wrong house following a night out with friends.

Pysher’s mother said he had been drinking while celebrating a friend’s birthday and accidentally mistook a nearby home for his friend’s house.

The homeowners called 911 believing someone was attempting to break into their home, and police arrived shortly after midnight and found Pysher in the backyard.

His mother said Pysher was unarmed and carrying only a cellphone and backpack when he was shot, while authorities described the incident as an encounter with officers, Fox News has reported.

The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting.
