NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot completed the sixth all-female spacewalk in history outside the International Space Station.

The two astronauts spent 6 hours and 49 minutes replacing a docking aid on the station’s Harmony module and a high-definition camera on the station’s exterior.

The docking aid helps visiting spacecraft navigate and safely rendezvous with the ISS, while the camera provides important views of the station and operations in space.

The spacewalk was largely successful despite a mobility problem developing in Adenot’s spacesuit late in the mission, Space.com has reported.

The historic outing adds to a series of recent ISS maintenance spacewalks as astronauts continue upgrading and repairing the aging orbital laboratory.
