Donald Trump closed the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas by urging supporters to “pretend” he was on the ballot in November’s elections.

Trump is facing low approval ratings amid concerns over rising prices and the war in Iran, while Republicans are facing the possibility of losing control of Congress.

He asked supporters to rally their families and friends to vote Republican, emphasizing the importance of the midterm elections to his administration.

Trump also repeated his promise of a $5,000 “dividend” for every adult if Republicans retain control of both the House and Senate, a proposal critics have questioned and estimated could cost more than $1 trillion, The Guardian has reported.
