Anthony Kazmierczak was sentenced to 14 months in prison for spraying Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar with a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar during a Minneapolis town hall in January.

Kazmierczak pleaded guilty to assaulting a U.S. officer and was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, including a requirement that he have no contact with Omar.

Prosecutors presented evidence that he had planned to attend the event and had sent messages to others suggesting he intended to do something involving Omar.

Omar was not injured and continued the town hall after security officers tackled Kazmierczak and turned him over to police, the AP has reported.

In court, Kazmierczak apologized to Omar, while his attorney cited his health and medication issues as factors in his behavior.
