President Donald Trump defended his foreign policy in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, saying he has used American military power to address conflicts and challenges that previous leaders failed to resolve.

Trump said he faces a choice between negotiating a deal with Iran and “annihilating” its government, while predicting that Tehran would agree to a deal after the U.S. midterm elections.

He also discussed the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, U.S. actions in Venezuela, and a new security agreement involving Greenland and Denmark.

Trump defended continued U.S. development of artificial intelligence, saying he would not restrict its growth while pledging that the technology would be developed safely and responsibly, CBS News has reported.

The speech came as Trump prepared to meet with other world leaders and amid continuing international tensions over the Iran war, which is approaching its seventh month.
