George Santos’ mysterious new treasurer is unknown to local politicians

Rep. George Santos’ mysterious new treasurer is unknown to local politicians but is curiously listed as living at the apartment where Santos’ sister lived until earlier this year.

Andrew Olson was listed as the treasurer for Santos’ federal political committees on February 21, shortly after the Federal Election Commission warned the congressman that he could not raise or spend money without one.

But Olson raised questions: his listing gave no phone number and he had never seemingly served in such a role before.

The position was under scrutiny already because its last named holder — Thomas Datwyler — said he didn’t work for Santos at all and was listed without giving his permission.

A new report by CNN offered new details into the mystery surrounding Olson’s appointment, noting that he does not serve as treasurer for any federal committees beyond those linked to Santos.

Election officials in New York told CNN that nobody with that name is listed as a treasurer of any political committee in the state. And Nassau County Republican Party officials also do not appear to know anything about Olson.
