Police report multiple fatalities after a fatal shooting at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg on Thursday evening, CNN reported. At least six people are dead and seven people injured, CNN affiliate RTL/NTV reported.

Hamburg police stated that the attack took place in the northern German city at approximately 9 p.m. local time (3 p.m. ET) and involves one or more unidentified attackers.

According to a police spokesperson, the authorities are currently investigating whether the shooter is one of the individuals who were found dead in the building.

Upon arriving at the three-story place of worship, where an event was taking place, police observed deceased and injured individuals on the ground floor, as reported by Hamburg police spokesman Holger Vehren to NTV.

When the police initially entered the building, they heard a gunshot coming from the top floor and discovered a deceased individual upstairs.

Although the authorities suspect that the individual may have been the perpetrator, no additional information can be provided at this time, according to a spokesperson.
