At least four individuals, including two acquaintances of the governor, were killed, and nine others were injured in a shooting at a downtown Louisville bank, according to police.

The suspect has also been reported dead. This incident is the 15th mass killing to occur in the United States this year, the Associated Press reported.

It follows a shooting two weeks ago in Nashville, Tennessee, where a former student killed three children and three adults at a Christian elementary school, resulting in the death of friends of the state’s governor and his wife.

During the Louisville shooting, law enforcement officials arrived while the shooter was still firing shots inside Old National Bank and engaged in a firefight with the suspect.

Louisville Metro Police Department Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey stated at a press conference that it was unclear whether the shooter died by suicide or was shot by officers.
