4 killed after US convoy attacked in Nigeria

According to a report from the Daily Trust, individuals from the United States Embassy in Nigeria were tragically killed in an incident in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The outlet received information from a source stating that at least four people lost their lives in the attack, while others sustained injuries, the Daily Express reported.

The community is now under the control of troops. Anambra’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence of multiple fatalities.

DSP Ikenga stated, “In response to the report of a shooting incident in Ogbaru community, the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has dispatched a police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to address the situation. However, the details of the incident are still limited at this time. I will provide further information as soon as possible. Thank you.”

The U.S. mission in Nigeria has also verified the incident and announced that its personnel are working in partnership with Nigerian security forces to ascertain the full details and underlying causes of the event.
