Police have confirmed the arrest of Samuel Brinton, a former nuclear official from the Biden administration, who was dismissed late last year following their involvement in a series of luggage thefts.
The arrest took place at Brinton’s residence in Rockville, Maryland, at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Montgomery County Police Department on Thursday, the New York Post reported.
Brinton is presently in custody awaiting charges of Grand Larceny, which arise from alleged incidents of stolen property at Ronald Reagan National Airport. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police first became aware of these allegations in February 2023.
According to a lawyer representing Tanzanian fashion designer Asya Khamsin, the charges are connected to the disappearance of her suitcase.
Arrest records indicate that Brinton, who identifies as non-binary and prefers they pronouns, was apprehended on the 700 block of College Parkway as a fugitive from justice.
