As President Joe Biden commences his reelection campaign, a recent survey conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reveals that only 33% of American adults express approval of his handling of the economy.
Additionally, a mere 24% believe that the national economic conditions are favorable, the Associated Press reports.
The public’s dissatisfaction with Biden’s economic performance coincides with concerns regarding high inflation, challenges in the housing market, and apprehensions surrounding a potential U.S. government debt default.
The sentiment toward the president’s actions on contentious issues such as gun policy and immigration is similarly grim, with only 31% expressing approval.
Overall, approximately 40% of respondents approve of Biden’s overall job performance, which aligns with his approval rating for a significant portion of the past year and a half.
