On May 10, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, known for his conservative stance, enacted what he deemed as the “most robust anti-illegal immigration legislation in the country.”

The new law aims to prevent undocumented workers from securing employment within the state, particularly in the southern region, the AFP reported.

Effective from July 1, businesses with a workforce of 25 or more individuals will be obligated to utilize the federal E-Verify system. This system ensures the verification of the legal status of newly hired employees.

Businesses that violate this law by employing undocumented migrants will face substantial fines as penalties for non-compliance.
