On Tuesday, officials revealed that a 19-year-old man from Missouri, identified as Sai Varshith Kandula of Chesterfield, was arrested after allegedly driving a truck into barriers near the White House.

The investigation suggests that Kandula made incriminating statements, leading authorities to believe that he intended to harm the president, NBC News reported.

The charges filed against Kandula include threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict harm on a president, vice president, or a family member, based on his statements to multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Secret Service representative confirmed this information.

During the ongoing investigation involving the Secret Service, United States Park Police, the FBI, and U.S. Capitol Police, Kandula was interviewed by Secret Service investigators on Monday night.

As a result, he faces additional charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and trespassing.
