Rex Heuermann, the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer, will face charges for the murders of two additional women when he returns to court on Thursday.
Heuermann, a former Manhattan architect, will be arraigned for the 2003 murder of Jessica Taylor and the 1993 slaying of Sandra Costilla.
Taylor’s remains were found in Manorville in 2003 and later identified on Ocean Parkway in 2011.
Costilla’s 1993 murder had not been linked to the Gilgo Beach victims until now, and investigators had previously suspected another serial killer in her death, the New York Post reported.
Heuermann, 60, was arrested in July 2023 and is already charged with the murders of four other women, known as the “Gilgo Four,” whose bodies were discovered along Ocean Parkway.
Initially charged with the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Lynn Costello, he was later charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Searches of Heuermann’s home revealed a soundproof room and over 200 guns. DNA evidence and cell phone records tied him to the crimes.
The investigation, which had been inactive, was revived in early 2022 under new police leadership, leading to Heuermann’s identification as a suspect.
