Two people were killed and 19 others injured in a shooting at a block party in Detroit, Michigan, early Sunday morning, according to Michigan State Police.
The shooting occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. ET, reported CNN affiliate WDIV. The injuries sustained by the 19 survivors varied, though it is unclear how many were from gunshots.
No arrests have been made yet, and state police are assisting Detroit Police with the investigation.
Detroit Police are analyzing evidence and will continue their work through the weekend.
They plan to implement a new strategy for block parties, with details to be shared in a briefing by the police chief and mayor, CNN has reported.
The incident occurred during a period noted for increased gun violence in the U.S., particularly from July 1-7.
