The UK has passed the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which will ban anyone born after 2009 from ever legally buying cigarettes or tobacco.
The law, approved by parliament and awaiting royal assent from King Charles III, creates a “generational smoking ban.”
It will apply across United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The policy makes the UK one of the few countries to adopt such a ban, alongside the Maldives, the DW has reported.
A similar attempt in New Zealand was later reversed after a change in government.
