U.S. soldier involved in Maduro raid charged with betting on the operation

A U.S. special forces soldier, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, has been arrested and charged with using classified information about a U.S. operation that removed Nicolás Maduro from office to make prediction market bets.

Authorities say he placed about $33,000 in bets on Polymarket and earned more than $409,000 in profits.

Prosecutors allege he was involved in planning the operation and used sensitive information for personal financial gain.

He faces multiple charges including fraud, theft of government information, and unlawful use of confidential data, NBC News has reported.

Regulators and Polymarket both said they are cooperating with investigations and emphasized that insider trading is prohibited.
