A Texas jury has sentenced former FedEx driver Tanner Horner, 34, to death for the kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Athena Strand in 2022.

Prosecutors said Horner struck the girl with his delivery van, abducted her, and later strangled her after a delivery incident at her family’s home in Wise County.

The case included extensive evidence and testimony over a 19-day trial, including audio, DNA analysis, and crime scene details.

Horner showed no visible reaction as the verdict was read, while prosecutors argued he acted without remorse and deserved the death penalty, Fox News has reported.

The victim’s family said the crime destroyed their lives and expressed lasting grief following the sentencing.
