Florida man killed in bear attack at Glacier National Park

A Florida hiker, Anthony Pollio, 33, was found dead in Glacier National Park in Montana after going missing during a solo hike near Mount Brown Fire Lookout.

Authorities believe he was killed in a surprise bear encounter, marking what may be the park’s first fatal bear attack since 1998.

He was last heard from on May 3, and search teams discovered his body on May 6 in a wooded area off the Mount Brown Trail along with some of his belongings.

Officials said his injuries were consistent with a bear attack, though the exact circumstances are still under investigation, USA Today has reported.

Parts of the trail remain closed as park officials continue to assess wildlife activity and safety conditions.
