A person was killed at Denver International Airport after jumping a perimeter fence and entering an active runway as a Frontier Airlines flight was taking off for Los Angeles on May 8.
The Airbus A321 struck the individual during its takeoff roll, forcing pilots to abort as smoke filled the cabin.
All 231 people on board were safely evacuated using emergency slides, though 12 passengers reported minor injuries and five were hospitalized.
Authorities said the pedestrian, described as a trespasser, had entered the runway just minutes after breaching the fence and has not yet been identified, the USA Today has reported.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating while the runway remains closed.
