Two teenagers fell from the top of a moving subway train while allegedly subway surfing on the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City, leaving one dead and the other critically injured.
Police said the 14-year-old boy died after falling to street level, while an 18-year-old man landed on elevated tracks and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The incident occurred after a 911 call reported people falling from a J train heading from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
Officials described subway surfing as a dangerous trend fueled by social media videos and warned that it has led to repeated deaths in recent years, USA Today has reported.
City leaders and transit officials called the incident preventable and urged families and schools to discourage the risky behavior.
