A woman died after being struck by a patio umbrella that was blown by strong winds at a lakeside restaurant in Summerton, South Carolina, over Memorial Day weekend.
Authorities said the woman was dining with her husband when the sudden gust sent the umbrella into her head and neck, causing fatal injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and officials are treating the incident as an accident pending an autopsy.
The restaurant said the event happened during a severe weather outbreak and has deeply affected staff, guests, and first responders, ABC News has reported.
