The US said it carried out new self-defense strikes in southern Iran targeting missile sites and boats suspected of laying mines, according to US Central Command.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed it had shot down a US drone and engaged other aircraft, while warning it reserves the right to retaliate for ceasefire violations.
The strikes reportedly occurred near Bandar Abbas, a strategic port near the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about regional escalation.
Despite the clashes, US officials said they still support ongoing negotiations with Iran and believe a nuclear-related deal remains possible, the BBC has reported.
Iranian leaders, meanwhile, signaled increasing hostility toward US presence in the region and emphasized that talks are not close to a final agreement.
