Washington paper facility implosion death toll confirmed 11

Authorities have confirmed the identities of 11 people killed in a tank implosion at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging paper facility in Longview, Washington.

The incident occurred when a 900,000-gallon tank of “white liquor,” a chemical used in paper production, collapsed at the plant.

One final body was recovered, bringing the total death toll to 11, while 10 others were injured and taken to hospitals.

Victims included multiple plant employees and one firefighter who has since been released, UPI has reported.

Officials said the identification of the deceased may help families begin the process of grieving and closure.
