Florida beach toll booth worker killed after driver rams structure before getting stuck in sand

A toll booth attendant was killed Monday after a pickup truck crashed into a beach access booth in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.

The victim, 62-year-old Tammy Jo Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene after the truck struck the booth at an estimated 40 mph.

Authorities said the driver, 35-year-old Deanna Harrell, continued toward the beach before attempting to turn around and becoming stuck in the sand.

Bystanders helped remove Harrell from the vehicle as officials responded, Fox News has reported.

Investigators are testing Harrell for possible impairment after reporting a strong odor of alcohol from the truck.
