Six people were injured in a knife attack at Penn Station in New York City on Sunday evening, according to authorities.
The fire department reported that victims suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious and were taken to nearby hospitals, with one in serious condition.
Amtrak officials said five people were slashed and all were stable, and a knife was recovered at the scene.
Police took a suspect into custody, with officials saying there are no early signs the attack was terrorism-related and suggesting the individual may have mental health issues, NBC News has reported.
City and state leaders condemned the violence and expressed support for the victims while noting that train service was not disrupted.
