Two suspected metal thieves have been arrested in connection with a deadly building collapse in Görlitz that killed three people on May 18.
Investigators believe the suspects may have damaged or tampered with pipes while searching the building for scrap metal and other valuables before the collapse.
Authorities are investigating possible involvement in causing a fatal explosion and negligent homicide.
The suspects, a 27-year-old Polish man and a 33-year-old Afghan man, were already being held in pre-trial detention on another matter, DPA International has reported.
Investigators previously suspected a gas explosion caused the collapse and are continuing to examine the building despite challenges posed by the debris.
