An 18-year-old man died on Wednesday after suffering a heat-related illness while hiking in the Grand Canyon.
Emergency responders were called shortly before 2 p.m. to the Bright Angel Trail below Havasupai Gardens.
Rangers located him in a remote area near Garden Creek, about 30 feet below the trail.
Despite a rapid response and helicopter rescue efforts, he did not survive, AZ Family has reported.
Officials said he had been on a day hike from the South Rim to the Colorado River and back, and his identity has not yet been released.
