A trailer carrying fireworks erupted in flames on Interstate 75 near Ooltewah, creating a dramatic roadside explosion just before the Fourth of July weekend.

Fire officials said the work truck’s box trailer became fully engulfed, causing fireworks to detonate and launch in multiple directions across the highway.

Cellphone video showed intense bursts of fireworks shooting into the sky while thick smoke covered the roadway.

Authorities shut down the highway temporarily to protect drivers and allow emergency crews to respond, with assistance from nearby Chattanooga, NBC News has reported.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
