U.S. President Donald Trump said a deal to end the Iran conflict could be reached within “two or three days,” with the Strait of Hormuz reopening once an agreement is finalized.
He claimed negotiations are in their final stages and would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, while White House officials said talks are progressing quickly and “going very well.”
However, fighting between Israel and Iran has continued intermittently, with both sides trading strikes despite a fragile ceasefire that has repeatedly broken down.
Trump also said U.S. forces involved in a recent helicopter incident near the Strait of Hormuz were safe and that an investigation is underway, CNBC has reported.
Oil prices fell slightly as markets reacted to the possibility of a potential breakthrough in negotiations.
