12 dead in Missouri plane crash, authorities say

A plane carrying 12 people crashed in a Missouri field on Sunday shortly after taking off from Butler Memorial Airport during a skydiving operation, killing everyone on board.

The flight was being operated in support of Skydive Kansas City, and officials said some family members witnessed the crash.

Authorities stated there is no suspicion of foul play, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are leading the investigation, with teams already arriving at the scene, The Hill has reported.

Local agencies responded to the crash, the airport was closed indefinitely, and officials are working to identify and support the victims’ families.
