An Alabama father, 34-year-old Jorge Fonseca, was shot and killed outside a Birmingham barbershop on Saturday afternoon during an argument that escalated into violence in front of his family.

Police said the victim and suspect knew each other and got into a physical fight outside the business before the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Emergency responders attempted lifesaving efforts, but Fonseca was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter fled but was arrested about 15 minutes later, though their identity has not been released, People.com has reported.

Investigators are continuing to question witnesses who were inside the barbershop during the incident.
