Deutsche Bahn will issue bodycams to 2,000 conductors and restaurant car staff following the fatal attack on a conductor in February.
Staff members will decide whether to wear the cameras on their uniforms.
The bodycams are intended to improve safety, deter attacks, and provide evidence when incidents occur.
The initiative was announced by DB chief executive Evelyn Palla as part of a broader train safety plan, DPA International has reported.
Additional measures include hiring 200 more security staff and developing a discreet alarm button for employees to report dangerous situations.
