Truck driver accused of using fake documents to steal $2.9M cargo

Police in Greenfield, Indiana, arrested a California truck driver after recovering nearly $2.9 million worth of stolen tungsten oxide powder.

Authorities said the cargo was linked to a theft in Pennsylvania and was being transported using fraudulent documents.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Deepak Kumar, was taken into custody on an active Pennsylvania arrest warrant for theft-related charges.

Officers located the truck on Interstate 70, impounded it, and confirmed the stolen shipment after obtaining a search warrant, Freight Waves has reported.

The recovered cargo was later returned to a representative of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, while prosecutors review potential additional charges.
