Russia and Ukraine launched overnight attacks that caused casualties on both sides, according to local officials.
Russian strikes killed two people and injured three in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, while Ukrainian drone attacks killed one person and injured several others in Russia’s Volgograd and Rostov regions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine targeted Russian logistics hubs, a maritime terminal, and an oil refinery as part of its long-range campaign against Russian military infrastructure.
Zelenskyy defended the strikes as necessary to weaken Russia’s war effort and protect Ukraine, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Meanwhile, thousands protested in Kyiv, demanding the reinstatement of former Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov after his unexpected dismissal earlier this month.
