Karoline Leavitt will leave her position as White House press secretary by the end of August, President Donald Trump announced Wednesday.

Leavitt, 28, said she is stepping down to spend more time with her husband and their two young children after recently returning from maternity leave.

She became the youngest White House press secretary in history when she took the position in January 2025.

Trump said Leavitt will remain involved as one of his top outside advisers and help Republicans during the upcoming November midterm elections, CNBC has reported.

Leavitt described the decision as bittersweet, saying the demands of the job made it difficult to give her children the time and attention she believes they deserve.
