Ford is recalling 148,663 Mustang vehicles from the 2024 through 2026 model years because a wiring problem could cause a sudden loss of power.

The defect involves engine-compartment wiring harness ground terminals that can fracture because of heat and vehicle vibration.

Depending on which terminal fails, drivers could also lose headlights, windshield-washer functions, air conditioning or the engine cooling fan.

Ford estimates about 1% of the recalled vehicles are likely to experience the problem and says no accidents or injuries have been reported, the USA Today has reported.

Dealers will replace the faulty wiring terminals with redesigned components at no cost to owners, with notifications being sent to affected customers.
