Sen. John Fetterman is facing criticism after a Wall Street Journal investigation alleged that he has frequently avoided parts of his Senate responsibilities and meetings with constituents.

The report, based on interviews with former staff members and other sources, describes Fetterman as increasingly disengaged from routine Senate work while devoting significant attention to media appearances and other priorities. 

One example cited was Fetterman canceling a meeting with paralyzed veterans because he said he was ill, then appearing for a Fox News interview shortly afterward.

Fetterman has rejected the allegations, calling the report a “hit piece” based on disgruntled former staffers and disputing its portrayal of his work, the USA Today has reported.

The controversy has prompted criticism from some Democrats in Pennsylvania and renewed scrutiny of Fetterman’s role in the Senate as he continues to take positions that sometimes differ from members of his party.
