U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to Moscow and Kyiv in an effort to restart stalled peace negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

The two met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for more than three hours, where they discussed possible ideas for a settlement, although no breakthrough was announced. 

The envoys then traveled to Kyiv and held what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described as a very substantive meeting, discussing a potential peace process as well as security and economic support for Ukraine. 

Witkoff said the discussions produced new ideas and expressed hope that another round of trilateral talks involving the United States, Russia and Ukraine could be announced soon, the DW has reported.

The Kremlin said Monday that Russia does not rule out resuming three-way negotiations, but officials said it is still too early to determine when or where those talks would take place.
