Two Fly Precision crew members, Greg King and Ryan Cutter, died when their Super Puma helicopter crashed Sunday while fighting the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park.

The helicopter was using a water bucket to help suppress the fire when it crashed southeast of Ostrander Lake around 2:55 p.m., according to officials.

Fly Precision expressed deep sadness over the deaths and asked for privacy and compassion for the families and crew.

The Dome Fire had burned at least 3,047 acres as of Sunday night, although the rate of growth had recently slowed, KCRA 3 has reported.

Fire officials said the flames were moving into previously burned areas with less vegetation, reducing fire activity, but winds continued carrying embers and causing spot fires to the north.
