Police divers recovered the body of a patient who had been missing after a medical helicopter crashed into the Pacific Ocean off Catalina Island, California.
The crash killed three people, including the patient, a male pilot and a female nurse, while two others survived and were hospitalized.
The helicopter was carrying five people and went down shortly after taking off from Catalina Island while transporting the patient to the mainland for medical treatment.
Divers found the patient’s body in the wreckage after authorities searched more than 156 square miles of ocean over 23 hours, ABC News has reported.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash, which remains unknown.
