On Monday, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides confirmed on Twitter that a U.S. citizen was killed in a terror attack in the West Bank.

“Sadly, I can confirm that a U.S. citizen was killed in one of the terror attacks in the West Bank tonight,” Nides tweeted. “I pray for his family.”

According to the Israeli army, the attackers on Monday fired at an Israeli car near the Palestinian city of Jericho, and the driver was hit by the gunfire, Fox News reported.

According to the Israeli army, the attackers shot at an Israeli vehicle near Jerico, hitting the driver. The attackers, who were in a single vehicle, then continued driving and fired again before setting their own vehicle on fire and fleeing. This sparked a manhunt to find them.

The Jerusalem Post has reported that the victim was a U.S.-Israeli dual-national.
