High winds and heavy rains from a recent storm caused two separate regional train derailments in Switzerland on Friday, resulting in more than a dozen people sustaining injuries, according to police reports.

The incidents took place near the city of Bern at Lüscherz and Büren zum Hof. In Büren zum Hof, nine adults and three children were injured, with one person’s injuries being severe.

Several people were also injured in the Lüscherz derailment, although details about the extent of their injuries are not yet available, the Associated Press reported.

The responsible transit agencies, Aare Seeland Mobil and Regional Transit Bern-Solothurn, confirmed the derailments on their websites and announced the closure of the affected rail routes.
