On Wednesday, the Memphis City Council voted to reinstate a Democratic state representative to his previous position, marking the return of a second Tennessee state representative.

The Shelby County Commission had earlier voted overwhelmingly to send Rep. Justin Pearson back to the state Legislature, Politico reported.

Pearson and Rep. Justin Jones were previously removed from their seats by Republicans last week for participating in a protest on the state House floor that called for gun reform after a school shooting in Nashville.

Jones was also reinstated to his seat earlier this week.
