The parents of Kaylin Gillis, a 20-year-old who was shot and killed when her car mistakenly entered the wrong driveway in upstate New York, expressed their sorrow in poignant social media posts, the New York Post reported.
Angelique and Andrew Gillis took to Facebook on Tuesday to pay tribute to their daughter, describing her as a “beautiful soul” who had “so much to live for and so many dreams” before her life was tragically cut short by a homeowner in Washington County.
Kaylin was traveling with three friends when they accidentally drove onto the wrong property and were subsequently fired upon as they attempted to exit. The homeowner, Kevin Monahan, aged 65, was charged with second-degree murder.
“I’m devastated. I’m heartbroken,” wrote Angelique Gillis. “Words cannot express my gratitude for everyone’s love and support. My beautiful child did not deserve this. She had so much life ahead of her and so many aspirations. She was the light of our lives.”
