Following a successful fundraising quarter, President Joe Biden’s campaign has enlisted the support of three trusted allies to lead the next phase of his 2024 election campaign.
In an effort to bolster fundraising efforts, Biden’s team has welcomed three longtime allies to key leadership roles.
The President, along with Vice President Kamala Harris, managed to raise over $72 million in the second quarter through various entities linked to their reelection, including the campaign and joint fundraising committees.
Notably, the campaign committee alone amassed nearly $20 million, CNBC reported.
CNBC initially reported that Rufus Gifford, who previously served in Biden’s State Department, has returned to the campaign as the 2024 finance chair.
Gifford previously held the position of deputy campaign manager during the 2020 election, primarily focusing on finance-related responsibilities.
Former Representative Cedric Richmond, a Democrat from Louisiana, will also play a prominent role in Biden’s campaign as a co-chair.
During the 2020 election, Richmond served as co-chair for Biden’s campaign and has since held positions within the administration and the Democratic National Committee. Richmond, who formerly chaired the Congressional Black Caucus, provided an early endorsement to Biden during his previous White House bid.
Additionally, Chris Korge, the finance chair for the Democratic National Committee, will assume the same title for one of Biden’s joint fundraising committees, the Biden Victory Fund.
