Hunt widens for man who allegedly threw scalding coffee on baby

A man accused of throwing scalding coffee on a nine-month-old baby in an unprovoked attack at a Brisbane park is now the subject of an international manhunt.

The suspect, a 33-year-old foreign national, fled Australia four days after the August 27 incident, making his way to New South Wales before flying out of the country.

Police efforts were delayed by false information and the suspect’s counter-surveillance activities.

The baby, named Luka, suffered severe burns and has undergone multiple surgeries, CNN has reported.

Authorities are working with international partners to locate the man, whose motive remains unknown.
