Authorities are searching for 55-year-old Michael Timothy Puckett, accused of shooting two Virginia sheriff’s deputies, killing one, during a welfare check near Richmond.
The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service have offered a combined $60,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, and officials say he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
The deputies were responding to a call on Friday night when they encountered Puckett, who allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene after an exchange of gunfire.
One deputy, Logan Utt, a veteran who joined the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in 2023, was killed, while the second deputy survived, ABC News has reported.
The search has expanded into North Carolina after Puckett was spotted on a wildlife camera, and investigators are still working to determine a motive.
